Thomas Cavanagh

Technical Director, Rigger

Thomas is a production manager, a theatrical rigger, climber and mountain enthusiast. He has been working as Technical Director, Scout, Stage Manager, Rigger and Logistical Coordinator with Project Bandaloop since 1998. With 18 years of experience in live production, Thomas has supervised the installation of national tours with Stage Craft and has been head rigger and concert manager for theater in the round, North Shore Music Theater, Boston MA.  He is a three time alumni of the National Outdoor Leadership School and a graduate of the Wilderness Medicine Institute, currently nationally certified as a Wilderness First Responder with training as a WEMT. He completed "The Art of Leadership" with the Rockwood Institute in 2009. He has served as the Safety Officer at the High Altitude Bungee Tower, Squaw Valley and was a Massachusetts certified pyro-technician. As a police negotiator, Thomas has aided in the peaceful protest of numerous human rights related civil disobedience actions. Though Thomas has experience in the cockpit of a helicopter, he prefers to be backstage calling the electrics, sound and special effects of a Project Bandaloop production. Thomas is also the CFO and technical manager for Amazon Watch, a non-profit dedicated to protecting the environment and indigenous people of the Amazon Basin. Having worked on six continents, Thomas has found pathways to positive results on every production he has worked. Thomas' expertise in rapid and critical decision-making, risk analysis and foundational operations has been critical to Project Bandaloop and Amazon Watch since 1998.
